I became a parent governor in 2013 whilst my eldest son was attending the Nursery School. I was so impressed by the support Wentworth gave him socially and educationally I wanted to become more involved. I feel privileged to support the incredible work Wentworth does with the under-fives, both in the Nursery School and at the Children’s Centre.

I have lived in Hackney since 1997 but I believe that my role at Wentworth has taught me more about my community than I had learnt in all the previous years.

I became a community governor in 2006. I have lived in Hackney E9 since I was 19 years old and now have seven children, the youngest is 9. I have been a GP at Elsdale Street Surgery for nearly 25 years and have seen many children flourish as a result of Wentworth; it’s a real privilege to be involved with the outstanding provision of both the nursery school and children’s centre.

“I have lived in Hackney for 11 years and my son has been attending Wentworth since September 2020.

I work as a consultant in Emergency Medicine at Royal London Hospital. My interests include public health and reducing health inequality and I feel that providing a solid foundation for learning goes a long way to tackle this.

It has been a real joy to see how caring and innovative the staff at Wentworth are. I have seen how they encourage learning, build on children’s interests and share their educational experiences with other childcare facilities in the area.

As a parent governor, I hope to challenge the nursery school to continue to attend to the individual needs of every student, ensuring that children from all backgrounds are enabled to grow, learn and to support the community that we live in.”

I have lived in Hackney since 2004 and I have been a full-time parent since the summer of 2018. Since first visiting the Children’s Centre for stay and plays, and now that my son is enrolled at the nursey, Wentworth has played a pivotal role in my both son’s development and in providing support to me as a parent. As a governor it will be an honour to share the responsibility of ensuring the opportunities, resources, resourcefulness and atmosphere that my family have benefited from continuing to be received by others in the community.

I applied to be a Governor to remain connected to an institution that has played an important part of my life for a number of years. First as a school for our daughter, then as an architect helping the school renovate, and finally as a school for our son. I hope that my personal experience can positively contribute to the rest of the Governing Board. To even play a small part in supporting the teachers and staff would be wonderful.

I am a co-opted governor and a mother of two children, both of whom went to the nursery school. I put myself forward for this role because I wanted to help Wentworth Nursery and Children’s Centre continue to be the friendly, child centred place that it is, and to have the highest possible expectations for children’s learning and development.

In my professional life, I am studying for a PhD while also working for a children’s charity as a researcher into children’s well-being and experiences of poverty. I also work in a voluntary capacity as a family support worker and a youth mentor.

I joined Wentworth Nursery School and Children’s Centre in 2008 as the Community Services Manager, based at Granard House. Wentworth is an energetic and a cheerful workplace upholding high educational standards and values. The Children’s Centre has become firmly established in the community, with more children attending and subsequently moving on to the nursery.
