19 Sep Children’s Learning Week Ending Friday 16th September 2022

Our children continue to develop positive relationships with their peers and key adults in the nursery.  The children have been involved in learning how to care for Fred, the school pet tortoise, developing their gross motor skills in learning to ride a range of bikes and trikes, as well as fostering their imagination and design skills by planning, designing and modelling using recycled materials! Additionally, we have been celebrating World Afro Day (WAD).  This is a day dedicated to promoting education and appreciation for the unique position of afro hair, throughout the world. World Afro Day is a global day of change, education and celebration of Afro hair, culture and identity.  Our children have been learning how to notice similarities and differences by studying their features and others by drawing self portraits using skin tone felt markers.  They have also been learning words to describe features of hair such as afro, curly, and coily through imaginary role play in the home corner.

09 Sep Children’s Learning Week Ending Friday 9th September 2022

Dear Parents/Carers,

A warm welcome to you all.  We are all very excited for this academic year!  It is great to see our children who have returned after the summer break. During their first week our children have been exploring the nursery and children’s centre, establishing relationships and engaging in a range of learning experiences including: listening and responding to music, climbing and jumping using a range of climbing equipment, exploring tactile materials as well as playing in a collaborative context involving building a cave.

It is with great sadness that we learnt of the death of Queen Elizabeth II and for the next few days will be a time to reflect for all of us, including our children.

Schools, at times of national events and loss such as this, have a particular role to play. It is the current expectation that schools and other services will be open as usual over the coming days. It is important for children to have a sense of routine and life carrying on. The exception in terms of closure is likely to be the day of the state funeral.

Wentworth’s approach will involve explaining to the children that many people are going to feel sadness and grief at this news, and that they may see adults visibly upset.

Loss and grief can be hard for young children to see and understand. We will continue to support pupils through our established wellbeing approach and keep a watchful eye for any showing signs of distress. If you have any concerns about your child in relation to this event, please do speak to your keyworker

12 Jul Children’s Learning Friday 8th July 2022

The children did a great job with our asme jubilee party and very gracious surprise celebration. My huge thanks to all the parents and carers for their contributions and efforts. Enormously kind.

01 Jul Learning Week Ending Friday 1st July 2022

The children have been involved in not only observing the life cycle of a butterfly but had the delight of releasing the butterflies. We also developed children model making skills, by designing and making their own instruments. We wish you all a very happy and safe weekend.

24 Jun Children’s learning week ending Friday 24th June 2022

Our children have been learning about how to care for our planet by sharing books about helping our planet and creating pictures and posters about what we can do. Additionally, we have had some children learning to develop their climbing skills and other learning to play the djembe drums. Wishing you all a very happy and safe weekend.

17 Jun Children’s learning week ending Friday 17th June 2022

The children have been incredibly busy with further learning about pirates and ships; such learning has included children creating maps, understanding such terms as navigation and helm. Additionally, children have been learning about re-using, recycling and the importance of caring for our environment. Lastly of course many of our children have been learning about drinking lots of water in this exceptionally hot weather as well as having lots of fun with water! The children have been learning to play together through designing and building a pirates’s ship. Additionally some children have been learning to weave and use a sewing machine. We wish you all a very happy and safe weekend. Best wishes from all at Wentworth.

27 May Children’s learning week ending Friday 27th May 2022

Our children have been involved in learning to read and follow a simple recipe when making fruit smoothies. Additionally a number of children have been learning to ride a two-wheeled bike as well as climbing up a rope swing. We have also had a number of children acting out familiar stories. We wish you all a very happy and safe half term. We look forward to seeing you on Monday 6th June.
